Summary
Commenting on the industry campaign against the levy, Dr Modi Mwatsama, Registered Nutritionist and Policy Director of the UK Health Forum said:
‚ÄúSugary soft drinks have no nutritional value. They are the biggest single source of excess sugar intakes in children, and the related high levels of obesity and tooth decay. One in three children is currently overweight or obese. The NHS is spending £35 million a year extracting teeth in children. A further £5 billion a year is spent on treating obesity in the population.
