UK Health Forum welcomes new report from Royal College of Physicians on tobacco harm reduction
Date28 April 2016
Year 2016
The report, which builds on the evidence review conducted by Public Health England in 2015, supports the positive role of e-cigarettes in reducing tobacco harm. It concludes that, whilst not absolutely safe, the hazard to health arising from long term vapour inhalation from the e-cigarettes available today is unlikely to exceed 5% of the harm from smoking tobacco. Encouraging smokers to switch to e-cigarettes as a means of quitting smoking must go hand-in-hand with a robust, appropriate and considered regulatory approach to these products.
