UKHF welcomes SACN’s revised recommendations on dietary sugars and fibre
Date17 July 2015
Year 2015
The UK Health Forum welcomes the long-awaited report from the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) on carbohydrates and health. The report marks a significant milestone by providing clarity that there is no dietary requirement for free sugars, and conclusive evidence of the important link between free sugars and a wide variety of health outcomes including obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and tooth decay. It also underscores the importance of dietary fibre on bowel health.
