Title
UK Health Forum response to HM Government consultation on the Child Poverty Strategy 2014-17
Date21 May 2014
Summary
We generally support the consultation’s three key actions for tackling poverty and its drivers: supporting families into work; improving living standards; and raising educational attainment. These – and poverty more generally – are all identified as social determinants of health and well-being. UKHF is concerned however with the severe lack of mention of health – the social determinants of and the long-term health costs to individuals, families and the country that come from growing-up in poverty – in the consultation document.
