Fuel Poverty Advisory Group 11th annual report
Date17 December 2013
Today (17 December) the Fuel Poverty Advisory Group (FPAG)- of which the UK Health Forum is a member- has published its 11th annual report.  Hannah Graff, senior policy researcher at UK Health Forum, "We welcome the 11th annual report from the Fuel Poverty Advisory Group for England and its focus on the worsening problem of high energy costs coupled with homes that are poorly insulated. Recently released data for excess winter deaths in 2012-2013 showed a rise in the number of people falling victim to the long-term health effects of living in cold, damp homes. Eliminating fuel poverty is increasingly urgent if we are to tackle the shocking inequalities in avoidable non-communicable diseases such as heart and respiratory diseases. Money from carbon taxes should be used to insulate cold homes – the energy efficiency this will create will drive down fuel costs for vulnerable homes for good."
