Researchers from the World Health Organisation have produced a literature review which validates many health professionals concern over the dangers of energy drinks. The results of the review found caffeine intoxication was a springboard causing other aliments, such as heart palpitations, hypertension, nausea and vomiting. Adolescents are most likely to drink energy drinks straight or mixed with alcohol, which is particularly risky. WHO researchers have suggested regulations on energy drinks such as caps on the amount of caffeine per single serving and education of the public around the risks of high consumption of energy drinks.
