The WWF UK has published a new short report on food security and biodiversity. Ensuring citizens are sufficiently fed has been a key concern of governments and rulers since ancient times. However, due to a series of global and regional food shocks over the past 50 years – including two in the past decade – international efforts to eradicate hunger have ignited global interest in the concept of ‘food security’. This simple two-word phrase is now central to most government, business and NGO reports and policies addressing the future of food production and consumption.
For WWF UK this is becoming an issue of increasingly importance. They are currently working out how best to engage on this issue and to push government to move on it.
