“We welcome this new report from Cancer Research UK. As well as increasing the risk of cancer, being overweight or obese also increases the risk of developing other serious health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, liver disease and associated mental health problems. “One in five children are overweight or obese before they start primary school, and this rises to one in three by the time they leave leading to devastating consequences for their health. This is why we need to create an environment which helps families to make healthier choices by protecting children from junk food marketing; on TV and online.”
