Good maternal nutrition: The best start in life

This publication presents a summary of the most recent evidence on maternal nutrition, the prevention of obesity and noncommunicable disease. It provides an overview and explores what national recommendations for nutrition, physical activity and weight gain during pregnancy are in place in the Member States of the WHO European Region. The publication 
concludes with a summary of some possible national-level opportunities for action, exploring how to promote nutrition and health throughout the life-course, ensure optimal diet-related fetal development and reduce the impact of morbidity and risk factors attributed to noncommunicable disease by improving maternal nutritional health.
