Introduction
HENRY is a highly successful intervention to tackle child obesity. Its holistic approach recognises that emotional well-being and confident, responsive parenting are as important for a healthy lifestyle as nutrition and activity.
What did you do? Briefly describe what was involved in your case study
HENRY was developed in response to an identified gap – for a practical intervention that would deliver the key evidence-based messages contained in Professor Mary Rudolf’s Tackling Child Obesity through the Healthy Child Programme – a framework for action.
Has an evaluation of the project occurred?
Rigorous evaluation has demonstrated the effectiveness of both HENRY practitioner training and family interventions. Clinical studies show that:
• HENRY training has a long-term, profound impact on practitioners’ professional and personal lives, increasing their confidence and skills to tackle lifestyle change – with benefits sustained up to 5 years after completing the training.
